Voter Registration

Access the National Mail Voter Registration Form from EAC’s online resources. This comprehensive form is used to register U.S. citizens to vote, update registration information (e.g., change of name or address), or affiliate with a political party.

The form includes voter registration rules and regulations specific to each state and territory. To complete the process, follow the state-specific instructions starting on page three of the form. After completing the form, sign your name as directed and mail the document to your state or local office.

Pregnancy & Pregnancy-Related Conditions

Purpose

Gurnick Academy is committed to ensuring that students who are pregnant or have pregnancy-related conditions are treated fairly and equitably and are not subjected to discrimination. This policy complies with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and applies to all educational programs and activities, including academic, laboratory, clinical, and extracurricular activities.

 

No Discrimination

Gurnick Academy is committed to maintaining an educational environment free from discrimination. In accordance with applicable federal and state laws, Gurnick Academy does not discriminate against any student based on pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions. Students who are pregnant or experiencing related conditions will not be excluded from any class, academic program, laboratory, clinical experience, or extracurricular activity, nor will they be treated differently or held to separate academic or conduct standards. Gurnick Academy ensures that no student is denied access to educational opportunities or participation in institutional activities due to pregnancy or related conditions.

 

No Requirement to Disclose Pregnancy

Students are not required to disclose a pregnancy to Gurnick Academy. Disclosure is entirely voluntary and is only necessary if a student chooses to request pregnancy-related support, such as academic or clinical accommodations, medical leave, or lactation support. Any information shared regarding a pregnancy is treated as confidential and will be disclosed only to Gurnick Academy officials who have a legitimate educational need to know to provide the requested support.

 

Declaration

Pregnant students may voluntarily inform program officials of their pregnancy by submitting a written notification to the Program Director. Students who declare their pregnancy may change their selected training option at any time during the pregnancy.

Upon voluntary declaration of pregnancy, Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts will comply with the lower radiation exposure limits and dose monitoring requirements outlined in the Radiation Protection Policy as detailed in the applicable Program Student Handbook. Students will receive counseling from the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or other qualified personnel, and a fetal dose monitor with instructions, as applicable.

Training Options:

  1. Continue training without modification or interruption. Students may continue all coursework and clinical training consistent with program and clinical site requirements. Participation in clinical experiences is subject to clinical site approval and applicable radiation protection policies. A physician’s release may be required.
  2. Continue training with modifications. Students may request reasonable accommodation to academic or clinical activities, which will be determined on an individual basis and based on programmatic completion requirements.
  3. Students may take pregnancy leave for a period deemed medically necessary by the student’s physician, at the end of which the student shall be reinstated to the status they held when the leave began.

Students may withdraw their pregnancy declaration at any time by submitting a written request.

 

Equal Access to Education

Pregnant students have the same rights and opportunities as all other students to fully participate in Gurnick Academy’s educational programs and activities. This includes the right to attend classes, engage in academic coursework, participate in laboratory and clinical education, and take part in extracurricular activities without limitation based on pregnancy.

Gurnick Academy will not exclude pregnant students from any program or activity, require them to enroll in separate or alternative courses, or compel them to participate in special programs designed for pregnant students. Any accommodations or arrangements offered are voluntary and based entirely on the student’s individual choice.

 

Reasonable Accommodations

Gurnick Academy treats pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions in the same manner as other temporary medical conditions. Upon request, students may be provided with reasonable accommodations designed to support their continued participation in academic and clinical activities. Such accommodations may include, but are not limited to:

  • permission for frequent restroom breaks
  • breaks as needed for rest or hydration
  • opportunities to make up missed coursework, laboratory sessions, or clinical hours.

All accommodations are determined on an individual basis, taking into account the student’s specific needs and the program’s essential requirements. Providing reasonable accommodations does not require lowering academic, technical, or clinical standards.

 

Pregnancy Leave

Absences related to pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions will be excused for the duration deemed medically necessary by a licensed healthcare provider. Students may elect to take an approved medical leave of absence for as long as medically required based on their individual medical circumstances.

Students requesting leave must meet with the Program Director and complete an LOA Request Form. Upon return from an approved pregnancy leave, students will be reinstated to the same academic status, clinical or program standing, and level of extracurricular participation they held before the leave, with no academic or programmatic penalty.

Students are not required to take a leave of absence solely based on pregnancy or related conditions. They may continue to participate in educational programs and activities with reasonable accommodations, as appropriate.

Lactation Support

Students who are breastfeeding or expressing breast milk are entitled to reasonable break time to do so, as well as access to a clean, secure, and private space free from intrusion. This space will not be a bathroom and will be made available in a manner that supports the student’s needs. The provision and use of lactation accommodation will not adversely affect a student’s academic progress, attendance, participation, or clinical standing.

 

Students Seeking Support

  • Request Accommodations
    Students who need pregnancy-related accommodations, academic adjustments, or leave may contact the campus’s Title IX Deputy Coordinator.
  • Keep Documentation
    Medical documentation (such as a healthcare provider’s note) is required when requesting pregnancy leave or specific accommodations. Documentation is not required to disclose pregnancy; it is only required to support accommodation requests when applicable.
  • File a Complaint
    Students who believe they have experienced discrimination or have been denied appropriate accommodations may:

    • File a complaint with the campus’s Title IX Deputy Coordinator
    • File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR)

By law, Gurnick Academy is obligated to support pregnant students and remove unnecessary barriers to continuing their education.
