Before requesting a credit transfer, make sure to:
Review the new institution’s transfer credit policies
Confirm minimum grade requirements for the program you are applying to (this is often a C or higher, but can vary)
Check limits on the number of credits that can be transferred
Be aware of deadlines for submitting transfer materials. Deadlines cannot be extended.
Verify whether your program has specific transfer rules. This can be found in the institution’s catalog.
How to Request a Credit Transfer
Step 1 Inform your Admission Advisor that you would like to apply for credit-granting. The Admissions team member will provide you with more details and the necessary disclosures and documents to complete. All courses must be from institutions that are accredited by the Department of Education and receive a final letter grade. Pass/fail courses are not eligible for credit-granting.
Step 2 Read and sign the disclosure and other required documents
Step 3 Submit required documents:
Official Transcript(s).
Course descriptions for all courses.
Request official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Transcripts must usually be sent directly from the issuing school to Gurnick Academy. If sending an electronic transcript, please send it to the appropriate email address below. Step 4 Complete a Transfer Credit Request Form. Include all courses you feel may warrant transfer credit, including courses that may still be in progress. Step 5 Await Evaluation and final decision. Credit Requests are usually reviewed by the Registrar’s Office within 7 business days of the office receiving all required documents.
Additional Information to Know
Not all credits are guaranteed to transfer. Submitting a request for credit granting does not guarantee approval.
Transferred credits do not count toward your GPA.
Deadlines are very important. It is imperative that you are aware of any deadlines.
If you have any questions on the process, please reach out to your admissions advisor directly.
