The Career Services Team is the Professional Development Partner to help you work toward your professional nursing, medical imaging, and healthcare career.

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts believes that professional development should be interwoven into our student experience and that it should be just as essential as our students’ technical training.

The career services team guides the student experience from the beginning as a new Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts student. It continues to support them throughout their academic journey and beyond graduation.

We support and develop our students by sharpening their confidence and preparedness in presenting themselves to any employer and discussing the new skills they have acquired throughout their educational journey. 

Although we cannot guarantee employment, the Career Services Team at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is our student advocate in the Job market, dedicated to supporting all motivated students and graduates seeking assistance.

The Career Services team offers professional development workshops to all students, focusing on the development of critical professional soft skills. These workshops are designed to aid in student self-discovery and allow for assessing and reinforcing professional conduct.

The workshops aim to enhance student communication and self-awareness, and then promote their newly acquired technical skills to potential employers. To this end, each workshop is delivered in a fun and interactive manner, encouraging student participation.

Career Services maintains an open-door policy for students seeking one-on-one coaching, advice, or guidance. We take pride in being professional development partners for our students.

Career Services does more than provide job assistance; we counsel our students on life skills. We aim to meet every student’s needs or provide additional support to gain the confidence necessary to share their new technical skills with any employer or person inquiring about their career interests.

The career services team aims to partner with community employers to participate in our student mock interviews whenever possible, assisting students with the interview process, developing confidence, and enhancing skills.

The goal is to simulate actual interview conditions, providing our students with a more comfortable and realistic interview experience.

Employers have the opportunity to provide feedback that will help students assess their current strengths and weaknesses in interviewing abilities.

In addition to providing mock interview opportunities, the career services team takes it a step further by running a job interview and mock interview preparation workshop. The interview prep workshop reviews interview “dos” and “don’ts,” response formatting, and behavioral questions, and provides students with examples of appropriate interview attire.

Students are instructed on strategically preparing for interviews by “shifting the power dynamics” in their favor. Students can practice using the Interview Simulator to record and review their responses.

The Interview Simulator is the Gurnick Academy’s version of the “practice in front of the mirror” method. Students can then submit their practice interviews to their career services representative for review before conducting the actual interview.

Highlighting employment skills and achievements wholly and accurately on a student’s resume is a skill reinforced by the Career Services department.

By providing in-person resume workshops and additional self-service resume-building options, followed by reviews and feedback from career services. We take pride in our comprehensive approach to step-by-step guidance, helping our students understand the importance of updated resumes in the employment marketplace and offering students multiple options to create polished resume files.

Career Services regularly connects and speaks with employers of our past and future graduates. We schedule guest speakers to discuss what they look for in students, share their experiences in the field, and provide insights on what to look for in an employer, among other topics.

Gurnick Edge is a collaborative effort between Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts and the Career TEAM. This professional career development company assists schools nationwide in creating and developing training modules, videos, resources, and other educational materials.

The Gurnick Edge platform is your universe for career services that will help you establish yourself for a future occupation in the nursing and healthcare fields.

Insightful modules include learning to manage stress, implementing best practices for time management, setting goals effectively, and expanding your knowledge base beyond industry-specific skill sets. The modules also equip you with the essential soft skills necessary to become a successful individual throughout your academic career, in your professional life, and in life.
