CPR for Basic Life Support Course Overview
If you are a medical or nursing student, aide, medical assistant, or healthcare professional who needs your BLS/CPR certification, Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts offers a CPR continuing education course. The CPR course is a Continuing Education Course and is not accredited. It is intended for professionals and brings participants up-to-date in knowledge and skills.
The class is approximately 4.5 hours, while the renewal course is three (3) hours. Students who pass the test will receive the BLS/CPR card, valid for two years upon completion. If students do not pass the test, they will not receive the card.
The Basic Life Support Course’s goal is to train participants to save the lives of cardiac arrest victims through high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The American Heart Association designed the Basic Life Support Course to prepare healthcare professionals to perform CPR in and out of hospital settings.
This course trains participants to promptly recognize cardiac arrest, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide initial use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) as part of a team and individually. This course includes adult, child, and infant rescue techniques.

CPR for Basic Life Support Course Certification
Students who pass the test will receive the BLS/CPR card valid for two (2) years upon completing the class. If students do not pass the test, they will not receive the card.

Applicants must register online through our website. To complete registration, applicants must first select the CPR Course on the CE Courses page (this page).
Choose an appropriate campus and desired start date and click on the registration button. Follow the required steps to complete registration. Students must contact Admission Advisors to follow up with the registration completion.
Before registration, applicants must provide valid photo identification on the day of the course.

CPR for Basic Life Support Course Refund and Cancellation Policy
You have the right to cancel this course 24 hours before the scheduled start date to get a full refund. Since this is a one-day course and the seats are limited, no refunds will be offered to those who cancel their registration with less than 24 hours’ notice.
To cancel the course, the student must provide written notice of cancellation. Cancellation can be made by mail, email, or hand delivery. The written notice of cancellation, if sent by mail, is sufficient when deposited in the mail properly addressed (to Admission Advisor) with proper postage. The written notice of cancellation need not take any particular form and, however, expressed, it is valid if it shows that the student no longer wishes to attend the course.
If the student is absent on the day of the course, a refund will not be offered.
If Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts cancels the course, students will be notified about the upcoming schedule and automatically receive reassignment to the next available class. If there is a scheduling conflict, the student is responsible for opting out of the next course. To opt-out and receive a full refund, the student must submit a written cancellation notice. Students must attend all the hours in the course. Absences are not permitted. We recommend students arrive at class ten (10) minutes before the start.
Students who arrive after the class have already started are considered late and cannot attend the course that day. They will have to register for the next class.
